It’s time for the garden planning to begin!!

I just realized that it is almost the end of January and I haven’t begun planing my garden. I have a little 30×40 plot out back that is mostly sand and not good for growing much, but i try every year. Last year I did well with Potatoes, onions, tomatoes, squash, and peppers. As long as i can keep the stink bugs and weeds at bay those should be good this year as well. I’m thinking raised beds this year. starting with my potatoes, maybe 2×12′s in a 4×8 foot sections. I thin 2 of those with different potatoes in them will make a good start.

I’m going to need lots of hay this year to mulch everything. Lots of hay means no weeds and a lot less watering.

Speaking of watering, I guess i need to plan the layout so I can put in the watering properly. I think this year I’m going to put in a water spigot in the garden tied directly into the house system, not use the long water hose like I’ve done for the lat several years. That just seems to make a mess.

Let’s see….

Oh, I need to plant bulbs and get ready for the roses I’m putting in this year.

This will be the year i fix this old place up. It was new 10 years ago when we moved in, but it is time for real maintenance!
